Ever wonder what a Hickory Shirt is?

Hey Everyone..
It was a busy week last week. Between Toledo Homecoming and doing funeral work I only had enough time to get one picture of the many corsages and bouts I made! It is always awesome when the kids or their parents come in because they just do what ever you want: her dress is this color and his shirt is this.. It is always fun.
I had one young couple that the girl wore a red dress and her date wore a hickory shirt. For some of you that don’t know what a hickory shirt is.. it is a shirt that you find alot of loggers wearing. So for him I did his bout with a white rose-lots of greens- a little bit of red designing wire and twigs. Seem sort of fitting.. don’t you think?

Then this corsage was for a gal who was wearing a grey tone dress and Toledo’s colors are red white and black. It was his first date/dance and a good friend of our daughter’s. It is always so much fun to watch their faces when they pick their corsage up..

These funeral pieces were for our daughter Shannon’s best friend’s step dad. Mr McNelly was a long time resident of Napavine and a Veteran. He was very much loved by the community and all those he touched. So for me it was an honor to do flowers for his service.
This week is hopping as homecoming is on Friday here in Napavine and the dance is on Saturday. On top of that I have another funeral to do for a long time friend of ours from Toledo.. It’s times like this that are tough for so many, but I am thankful to be here for them when they need my help.
Well it is a beautiful fall day out and I have one more hour to go before the day is over so until then.. Have a great weekend.. and I will be chatting with you once again real soon..
Enjoy
Sharon

Fall Colors: A Break from the Rest of the Year

Well Happy Fall to Each and Everyone of You.
The shop is still a little on the slow side which at the moment, believe me, I am taking advantage of because of my shoulder. But it won’t be much longer and I will be busy doing flowers for the dances here and in the out lying areas. Then the Holidays will be coming around the corner soon. So hope to pick up business soon.
Today I decided to clean the coolers once again and do a little showcasing ..

I love to do arrangements and keep the cooler full and colorful.. Especially during Fall as it is my favorite time of the flower season.. One can get away from the pinks and purples, also the reds greens whites, . Fall seems to be the only season where it is in it’s own little world by its self.. But that isn’t saying you can’t throw in those other colors to make for some very bright and awesome arrangements. I find the more color the neater it is.. But then, that is me..
Any way I just wanted to say hello and let you all know that even though the blog has been quiet…I am still here!
Have a Great Fall Weekend and chat later!
Sharon.

The One Hand Pecker
Well here we go..the one hand pecker… I had surgery on roatery cuff (i know it is spelled wrong). Went into do what they planned and ended up doin two other procedures saving me from two more surgeries. Over all the surgery went real well..
I decided to experiment and see how well I could do with my first arrangement using combination left and right hand…more left then RIGHT… unfortunately!

Not to shabby if I do say so..and R.C shoulder surgery was 3 weeks ago..(Got a long recovery ahead of myself but at least I can do arrangements. So I am heading down the right track..which is awesome) School has begun here and believe it or not I have a small wedding on the 20th to do..So wish me luck and I will do my best to let you know how everything is coming together with all these challenges.
Have a great Day,
Sharon
Floats, candy, and a trophy…

Wow what a nice day for the Funtime Festival here in good ol’ down town Napavine. The parade was great and there was lots of turn out. Some of the floats were actually pretty awesome.

The one from the drug enforcement caught my eye along with our little entry.. We put our new logo out front of the quad and some of the balloons that we carry here at the shop. The star was Elliot and his little Gator all decked out with flowers, balloons and even a little clown clothing ..

He was so cute and his cousins and Grandma even was dressed as clowns. Made for a totally awesome entry in representing the shop this year.. In fact we won FIRST PLACE again for the second time around.

Pretty Cool huh. As you can see our daughter Shannon got into helping dad throw candy to the little ones and Mo wasn’t really sure what to think..

I did get a picture of him trying to put on his clown face and be a part of the fun but unfortunately he had to stay behind with Me and help greet the people who came out.. Over all it was a great way to show support to the people and let them know that we are here…. to stay….
Have a super great day!
Our 1st Anniversary: Napavine Fun Festival
Well Napavine Fun Festival is this weekend. It will bring alot of people for the day, which will be awesome. We have decided what better way to share our 1st Anniversary in Business with everyone. There will be cake and punch for anyone that wants to stop in and say hello. We also will have a little something in the parade which will be fun.
I promise to get some pictures of the event and we will get them on the shop blog as soon as possible. Until then have an awesome Summer and Enjoy life!
A Sad Day Close to Home

In the flower business we wouldn’t be human if our emotions didn’t show when we’re asked to do something very special to take out to the site of an accident, grave, or funeral.. Especially when the person lost is someone we know.
Today is one of those days. My heart is very sad. Our extended family member Karri’s son Kolby just graduated along with his girlfriend Darcie at White Pass High School. They were both so excited but it came to an end last Saturday morning. Not even a week out of school, Darcie lost her life in a car accident..
Our hearts are ripped with emotions and feeling for the pain that is being felt by Kolby, her family, his family and all those whose life she touched. May God give Kolby and the families the strength they will need to get through this and may all the memories help them remember the love they all shared as one.
Hug each other and be thankful for what you have. Sharon

Lazy Days of Summer

Hey everybody sorry it has been a while since my last entry but school is out, flowers are a little slow right now and not lots going on. But I am sure that closer to the 4th things will start to move again.
As of right now I have one wedding scheduled to order flowers and then it sounds like I will be doing another wedding in September. Which by then school will be back in session and shop will be hopping again..
Have a great June!
Family events and big weddings
Hello,
Well the weekend has come and gone. It was a very busy one. Gary, Larry, and Dale all went together and put on a birthday gathering for their sister who just turned 70. The event was nice and alot of the family and friends she graduated with were able to attend.
Now it is time for me to get down and ready to do one of the biggest weddings I have yet to do. I am so excited about this one as it is going to be totally awesome.. Maggie and David are a very special young couple. My son-n-law Louis works with them and I have been able to get to know them on a person level, so to do their wedding is an honor. Maggie has chosen an awesome design for her flowers. They will have a very wild flower look in all shades of purple..

Here’s a look at the pictures to see the colors she has chosen along with many facets of greens to combine with the flowers to create the look she is wanting. I will try to do a step by step to show you how it is all going, but for me it will be the finished product that I will be anxious to see!
Until the next entry- enjoy your life and the sunshine!
Sharon
